WWE star Sonya Deville had a girl crush on a Hollywood superstar
Sonya Deville recently took part in a video where she was asked who the WWE SmackDown star’s top girl crush was.
Deville, whose real name is Daria Berenato, is openly gay, and is the first openly gay female wrestler in the promotion’s history.
The MMA-fighter-turned-professional-wrestler revealed that it was Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.
“Number one would probably be Angeline Jolie because she was playing so many dominant, powerful female roles. Also, she was one of the first females in Hollywood to be open about her sexuality.”
‘Daddy Deville’ revealed that Jolie inspired her into accepting her own sexual orientation. She mentioned that seeing such a popular actress dating a women made her believe that she could one day as well.
“If Angelina can date women, maybe I can one day.”
Jolie, who was married to Brad Pitt until 2019, dated American model Jenny Shimizu in the 1990s.
What has Sonya Deville done since her return to WWE?
Deville famously returned to SmackDown on new year’s day in 2021. She was on a hiatus after a kidnapping attempt last year which had understandably made her take some time off from television.
In the first SmackDown episode this year, she was seen walking backstage. Commentator Corey Graves then reinstated her to the main roster.
Ever since then, she has taken a more passive role on the show. Deville now works as an assistant to WWE official Adam Pearce.
Deville also recently got linked with a role on the hit Star Wars series The Mandalorian. Gina Carano is no longer playing the role of Cara Dune, leaving a spot vacant.
WWE fans rallied on social media to have Berenato as one of the names in line to replace the outgoing actress.
Deville hasn’t wrestled much since her return. However, she has gotten a lot of people talking thanks to her suits.
