Sasha Banks has been missing from SmackDown ever since her WrestleMania 37 loss

Bianca Belair beat Sasha Banks in a historic WrestleMania 37 title match that saw ‘The EST’ of WWE walk away with the SmackDown women’s championship.

But that historic match was the last time that fans saw Banks on their screens. Belair stated after her title win that she wants a rematch with ‘The Boss’ to show that her win wasn’t a fluke.

That, however, is yet to happen and she instead finds herself involved in a feud with Bayley for the belt on SmackDown.

Many fans speculated as to what the reason to this could be and if Bayley vs Belair was just a last-minute plan that WWE came up with.

That is not the case, at least according to Ringside News, who state that the company is keeping Sasha Banks away from the spotlight so that her rematch with Belair ‘means more’.

Sasha Banks is missing from SmackDown but a return is in order

The report also mentions that Bayley vs Belair was ‘always the plan’ and Banks is kept away so the two can enjoy the spotlight for now.

And of course, so that when Banks does return to push Belair for the title again, it means something more.

It does seem like a good move and would certainly make a return all the more exciting, but that’s a big name that has been taken away from the Blue brand in recent weeks.

However, Belair has carried the mantle well in her absence. It could also be the fact that WWE want the new champion some time with the belt before it’s inevitably stripped off her.

But no matter who holds the belt and if Banks returns tomorrow or next month, SmackDown continues to have the better women’s division out of the two main brands and is a close second to NXT.
