According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Wrestling Inc.), even several days before the draft, other picks were not set apart from FOX and USA network’s top picks, but NXT would make a more significant part in this WWE Draft.

WWE was under the impression that several NXT stars like Xia Li, Dakota Kai, and Aliyah were the leading stars among the other female NXT stars. There were rumors that the few female stars were supposed to get main roster call-ups for months. However, they were also seen working in the main roster dark matches for WWE.

WWE wants to push Xia Li for the main roster

Since NXT is a part of the WWE Draft 2021, WWE has indicated their concerns about bringing top NXT stars to the main roster. WWE wanted a legitimate Chinese star-like Xia Li in the market after UFC’s success with Zhang Wii, who was the Women’s Straight World Title.

On the first night of the WWE Draft 2021, NXT stars the Interchangeable stable Hit Row Records drafted to SmackDown, and Austin Theory was picked for Raw.
