WWE NXT Champion Io Shirai reacted to the incredible clash against Sasha Banks
WWE NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai posted a classy message after her victory over SmackDown superstar Sasha Banks.
Io battled with Banks in a non-title bout at The Great American Bash on Wednesday. The match was set up after the reigning NXT Women’s champ had taken out Banks and her tag team partner Bayley last week on NXT.
As expected, the two delivered a fantastic match in the main event on Wednesday. Bayley tried to assist her partner, but Io Shirai prevailed with some help from WWE Raw Women’s Champion Asuka.
Indeed, ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ showed up on the Black and Gold Brand and sprayed Banks with the green mist, furthering their storyline ahead of a Championship match at WWE Extreme Rules: The Horror Show later this month.

Following the match, the NXT Women’s champ took to Twitter and posted an image of herself and Banks in the ring, with the caption: “A wonderful time”.

It was a nice touch from the Japanese wrestler, who has been very impressive in her short reign as the NXT Women’s Champion.
Io Shirai will be up against Tegan Nox next. Nox won a Fatal Four-Way match on The Great American Bash after beating Dakota Kai, Candice LeRae and Mia Yim.
As for Banks, she will not have taken the attack by Asuka lightly. Expect her to come out swinging as things heat up for their bout at Extreme Rules.
