John Cena edging closer to WWE return after recent comments about social media activity

16-time World Champion John Cena teased a return to the business after his recent activity on Instagram indicating that an appearance is WWE is not very far from happening.

Cena took to Instagram sharing the WWE logo and explained his feeling of nostalgia for the place where he was adored for years. However, there was more to come as Cena confirmed he was going to return to WWE.

Talking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Falon, he says: (h/t Wrestling Inc)

“Yeah, I posted that back in May. I was feeling rather nostalgic about the WWE, and I just wanted to post the logo. Some people took it as I was returning immediately, which is not the case.”

“I haven’t had my last match and I can’t wait to have my next match.”

Cena has been constantly in the headlines after rumours of a return at SummerSlam this year. His most likely opponent could be WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, in a rematch of the 2017 No Mercy match.

The Leader of the Cenation last appeared at WrestleMania 36 in a match against Bray Wyatt and is touted to make a return in the next few months in 2021. He will also be aiming to beat Ric Flair’s all time record and become a 17-time World Champion in WWE.

Cena has been busy on the professional and personal front though. He is one of the stars in the latest Suicide Squad movie and also the main villain in the new Fast and the Furious flick.

John Cena’s personal life

John Cena wed girlfriend Shay Shariatzadeh at an attorney’s office in October 2020 in Tampa, Florida. The couple, who have been linked since March 2019 and finally got hitched after a year together.

The couple met on the sets of Playing with Fire and have been together ever since. This is in the aftermath of Cena’s engagement with former WWE Superstar Nikki Bella, which ended weeks before the wedding date.

Cena was previously married to Elizabeth Huberdeau for three years, before calling it quits while he was in WWE in 2012.
