Jason Jordan gets backstage promotion but in-ring WWE return still looks unlikely

Jason Jordan was one of the most promising talents on WWE before his serious neck injury in February 2018 that made him undergo surgery.

In September that same year, WWE hired him as a producer. And now, PWInsider (h/t WrestlingInc) mentions that Jordan has been bumped up in the company.

The 32-year-old has been promoted to the role of lead producer in place of John Laurinaitis, and will oversee ‘all other WWE producers at TV tapings’.

This role, of course, includes bigger responsibilities in the company. After his neck surgery, Jordan was ruled out for a year from in-ring action.

But an in-ring return has seemed unlikely ever since WWE hired him backstage, and with his new role which demands more of him, a return to action inside the ring is probably not on the cards, at least for now.

Jason Jordan contributed in producing two massive WrestleMania 37 fights

After WrestleMania 37 concluded, it was revealed that Jordan had worked backstage to produce two of the most memorable fights at the event.

He worked with Jamie Noble to produce the WWE championship match between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre on night one.

Lashley went on to beat ‘The Chosen One’ via a vicious Hurt Lock, a moment that Booker T compared to The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak ending.

And Jordan worked alone on the the Nigerian drum fight between Apollo Crews and Big E for the Intercontinental title.

It’s good to see him find a great career for himself within the promotion. WWE had big plans for him that would have led to a WrestleMania encounter against kayfabe father, Kurt Angle.

But it was not to be due to his injury. Yet, he has a gone on to find his way to be at the PPV, albeit as a producer, and hopefully goes on to contribute in a similar way for years to come.
