Io Shirai shares heartfelt message for Triple H and WWE after becoming NXT champion
Sunday’s WWE NXT Takeover: In Your House marked a special occasion for Io Shirai. The Japanese wrestler defeated Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair in a triple threat match to become the new WWE NXT Women’s Champion.
The trio put on a brilliant show in the main event on Sunday, with Io Shirai coming out on top. This marks her first reign as the Women’s Champion on WWE NXT.

Following her triumph, Triple H congratulated the new champion on Twitter. He wrote:
“What an absolutely incredible main event. So proud of all three of the women in this match. Congratulations to @shirai_io, the NEW #WWENXT Women’s Champion! #NXTTakeOver #WeAreNXT”
Charlotte also was pleased after the match and lauded her rivals, despite losing her belt to Shirai.

Io Shirai’s emotional message after title win
Having been crowned the champion for the first time ever, Io Shirai took to Twitter to share her feelings.
Posting a picture of her with Triple H, the new WWE NXT Women’s Champion thanked the company for the belief they had shown in her and added that she had found a wonderful family at NXT.
I have nothing but the utmost respect & gratitude for WWE, who always believed I could become a champion, regardless of race or nationality.
Tonight, my chance finally arrived.
I don’t have a tag partner, but I definitely have a wonderful family & home.

The title triumph on Sunday is a huge step in the right direction for Io Shirai, who has been with WWE NXT since 2018. It will be interesting to see what’s in line for the Japanese pro-wrestler.
Defeating Charlotte and Ripley in a triple threat match is certainly something to talk about. For now, she can bask in the glory of a first title, a well-deserved one at that.
