Charlotte Flair sheds light on her brutal attack on Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series 2018

WWE superstar Charlotte Flair has explained her vicious attack on former Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at the Survivor Series PPV back in 2018.

Charlotte and Rousey were involved in one of the finest women’s wrestling bout in recent years at the PPV. It was an intense battle with both women going at it, pushing themselves to the absolute limits.

After having been unable to put Ronda away, Charlotte snapped and launched a brutal attacker on  her opponent thrashing her with a kendo stick and a steel chair. As a result, ‘The Baddest Woman on the Planet’ won via disqualification.

Charlotte’s reaction after replacing Becky

Initially, it was Becky Lynch, who was supposed to face off against Rousey at the PPV event, in what would have been an inter-brand Champion vs Champion bout.

However, ‘The Man’ picked up a serious injury ahead of Survivor Series and she chose Charlotte as her replacement for the fight against Rousey.

Speaking of her immediate reaction after being thrust into the match, Charlotte revealed that she had always envisioned her first match against Rousey would be at WrestleMania. However, she was ready to face her and prove that she was the ‘baddest wrestler on the planet’.

Charlotte also opened up on how she wanted the fight to look like and what her thought process was going into what was going to be one of the biggest matches of her career.

“I wanted it to look as physical as possible. I was going into the match just thinking like she’s the baddest woman on the planet? No, I’m the baddest woman on the planet. That’s the story I was trying to tell in the ring the whole time.”

The Queen has respect for her opponent

‘The Queen’ also had huge praise in store for her opponent for the way she walked out with her head high despite being at the receiving end of such a brutal attack.

“When I snapped and beat the living mess out her, in her hometown, the kendo stick, the chair in the head, I mean for her to get up and walk out with her head held high, that’s why she’s the toughest woman on the planet”

Charlotte reveals what drove her to the tipping point

As mentioned previously, after a point, Charlotte completely slapped and became unhinged, launching a savage attack on Rousey.

Speaking on what drove her to that point, ‘The Queen’ said:

“I loved the ending because I had been a good guy, but at the end I snapped. I mean I completely lost it. The frustration from losing Evolution, from being “the replacement”. After our match at Survivor Series, no I wasn’t a replacement, I’ve always been the one.”

The bout at Survivor Series was the only time Charlotte and Ronda Rousey faced each other one-on-one.

The two came to blows once again at the main event of WrestleMania 35, in a triple threat encounter with Becky Lynch also involved. ‘The Man’ would win the match to win both Raw and SmackDowm Women’s titles.
