Former Universal Champion Finn Balor makes surprise return on SmackDown

WWE Superstar Finn Balor made his return to SmackDown taking out Sami Zayn in a surprise appearance on Friday Night.

Balor entered during a segment with Sami Zayn taunting the crowd, who returned to the arenas after more than a year.

The Prince w for a long duration, where he relinquished the WWE NXT Championship to Karrion Kross a few months ago.

Speaking to Kayla Braxton in a Talking Smack interview, he said: (h/t Wrestling Inc)

“So, the reason that I’m here on SmackDown is to win championships. Buckle your seat belts; we’re going for a ride!”

“Obviously, there is always a plan,” he said. “I went to NXT, [and] I became the NXT Champion. I moved to RAW, [and] became the first Universal Champion, [and] became the two-time Intercontinental Champion. I went back to NXT and won the NXT Championship.”

Balor is one of the highly talented wrestlers in WWE and has shown on numerous occasions why he is so highly rated by many.

His move on SmackDown could now pin him with the best of the blue brand including Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins.

Finn Balor – the inaugural WWE Universal Champion

In August 2016, Balor defeated Seth Rollins at WWE SummerSlam to become the inaugural Universal Champion. He was forced to give up his title after suffering a shoulder injury during the match.

Despite his lengthy layoff, he returned to RAW but never got a decent title push for a couple of years. In 2019, he faced Brock Lesnar but was unable to beat the Beast.

His move on SmackDown could be a game-changer for ‘The Prince’, as he could reclaim what he lost out on. Balor has unfortunate with his injuries, but this could be a turning point in his WWE career.

We will wait and see what the future has in store for Balor after his return to the main roster?
