WWE Money in the Bank 2020 Results and Grades: Did we have a surprise winner?

WWE Money in the Bank 2020 Results and Grades: This was a different Money in the Bank as the two main matches weren’t held in a ring.

The card might have been smaller than usual, but the two Money in the Bank matches took place at the WWE HQ and produced quite a few laughs.

There were a few titles on the line too with Drew McIntyre, Bayley and Braun Strowman all defending their crowns.

WWE Money in the Bank was a decent enough PPV and here are the results and grades.

Hardy vs Cesaro

The kickoff show saw the enigmatic Jeff Hardy make a return against Cesaro. This actually was a great match with Cesaro controlling the early going.

However, Hardy was always making a comeback and trying to get the upper hand. Cesaro had a counter for everything. The pair traded several moves before Hardy was able to get the win via the Swanton bomb.

Hardy beats Cesaro

Grade A

Kickoff matches don’t really provide much entertainment, but this was special from both stars.

It is great that Hardy looks in good form but spare a thought for Cesaro, who seems to be fodder for others these days.

Fatal-4-way for SmackDown tag titles

One of the first belts on the line were the SmackDown tag titles. It was The New Day defending against the Forgotten Sons, Miz & Morrison and the Lucha House Party.

This was complete madness, as expected, and WWE ensured every person in the match had one memorable moment.

In the end, it was Big E who picked up the win to keep the titles for the New Day.

New Day retain tag titles

Grade A

All four teams are capable of putting on a great show, and this was an incredible match.

It was good that the New Day kept their titles after recent exchanges, and it will be interesting to see who they fight next.

Lashley vs Truth

MVP and Truth came out and had a hilarious exchange which highlighted how great Truth is in comedy.

However, Bobby Lashley came out and told MVP to take a break. The match turned into a squash as Lashley destroyed Truth and picked up the win.

Lashley beats Truth

Grade B

This wasn’t one of the better matches but the segment gets a plus for the comedy of Truth. Lashley needs to be given some direction and hopefully, we see something more concrete with him in the coming weeks.

Bayley vs Tamina

The SmackDown Women’s title was on the line with Tamina going up against the champ Bayley. Bayley and Sasha Banks came out with questions about their relationship. However, Bayley didn’t waste time against Tamina and targeted her leg.

She hit that against the post several times and even threw water on her challenger’s face. Tamina got her second wind after this and seemed set to win the title, but Banks came up with interference that allowed Bayley to win.

Bayley beats Tamina

Grade B

This was a great match with all three participants doing their bit. Bayley looked like a champion as she did a lot of damage to Tamina.

The challenger looked great to win the title but Banks came up with the save, and also saved her friendship with Bayley.

Strowman vs Wyatt

It was the Universal title on the line next with Braun Strowman taking on Bray Wyatt. The Fiend wasn’t out though as Wyatt took on the Monster and it was the champion that dominated early.

However, Wyatt was able to turn things around and even hit a Sister Abigail. Strowman kicked out and then put on the sheep’s mask from their days in the Wyatt Family.

But this was all part of the plan. As Wyatt celebrated the reunion, Strowman threw the mask and destroyed his rival to keep his title.

Strowman beats Wyatt

Grade B

This was another well-done match especially with The Fiend not coming out. The tease that Strowman was to join Wyatt was too good to be true, and it was great that the Monster kept his title.

McIntyre vs Rollins

Drew McIntyre came out to defend his WWE title against Seth Rollins. It was the champion that started off well as he dominated Rollins.

However, the Messiah took control of the match and targeted McIntyre’s legs. A few submission holds and even a few of his signature moves was not enough for Rollins to get the win.

Rollins then thought about using a steel chair but changed his mind. McIntyre and Rollins then traded blows before the champ retained his title.

The champ then offered a handshake to Rollins which was accepted.

McIntyre beats Rollins

Grade A

This was an incredible match that allowed both stars to show what they are capable off. There were no shenanigans and no interference from outside. A clean and quality match with respect between the two performers and possibly a future bout.

Women’s Money in the Bank match

Asuka, Nia Jax, Lacey Evans, Shayna Baszler, Dana Brooke and Carmella were the participants in this unique Money in the Bank match.

Asuka got the lead early on as she jumped from the second floor to take out her rivals. There were several hilarious moments from the Money in the Bank match with Paul Heyman getting involved in a food fight, Baszler beating up Rey Mysterio and Brooke picking up the wrong briefcase.

In the end, it was Asuka who won the title after she dispatched Baron Corbin, yes, Corbin, to lift the title.

Asuka wins

Grade A

This was a fun match and showed what WWE can do with pre-taped clashes. They did something similar at WrestleMania and have done it again in Money in the Bank.

Men’s Money in the Bank match

AJ Styles, Corbin, Daniel Bryan, Aleister Black, Mysterio and Otis were the competitors for the men’s version of the match.

This was also filled with some fun spots with Styles being trapped in a room full off Undertaker memorabilia.

Bryan and Styles also started fighting in Vince McMahon’s room before being thrown out by the boss. However, it was Otis who got the briefcase out of nowhere. Styles was unable to keep hold of the case and fell down with Otis waiting to pick it up and win the match.

Otis wins

Grade A

Another fantastic match that WWE offered as they included a lot of comedy with some dangerous spots.

It seemed set for Black or Styles to win the match before the PPV, but Otis picking up the briefcase will be something interesting to see.
