Why West Ham should make a move for Carlos Tevez

According to Daily Mail, Boca Juniors forward Carlos Tevez has opened himself to a move back to England with West Ham in the future. Tevez, 36, came through the ranks of Boca Juniors’ youth system and joined the Hammers back in 2006. A year later, he earned a move to Manchester United, where he won two Premier League titles before moving to Manchester City and Juventus. He has established himself as one of the best strikers in Europe. He has won several trophies in his career and still looks to be going strong. After a year with Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua, he returned to Boca Juniors in January 2018. He has been impressive with his boyhood club. He still has the energy left in the tank and thus, West Ham should make a move for him in the summer to bolster their attacking unit.

Tevez – A proven star to bolster West Ham’s attack

One key area Moyes should focus on strengthening is the centre-forward position. The Hammers have managed just 35 goals so far which is poor according to their standards. And this has resulted due to the failure of their strikers Sebastien Haller and Albian Ajeti. Both of them were signed last summer after the club sold Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez but they have failed to lead the line in the right way. While the Frenchman has netted just 7 goals in 27 league games so far, Ajeti is yet to open his account in the league. Thus, a striker is a must in the summer. In that regard, resigning Tevez would be a massive boost for the club. The Argentine already has immense Premier League experience. He has made 523 career appearances, scoring 211 goals and has proven his mettle. He has been a champion for whichever club he has played and his experience could come in handy for Moyes.

The 36-year-old has racked up 9 goals and 2 assists in 17 Superliga games this season. He would definitely add depth to Moyes’ squad, whilst also bringing in a wealth of experience.

Verdict

With the Hammers struggling for quality up front, it is clear that they are in need of experienced strikers to lead their line. And Tevez could also provide them with the much-needed extra goals given his recent good form. Therefore, they should make a move for the former Manchester United man this summer.
