Why Tottenham should make Carlos Vinicius deal permanent

According to Football.london, former Tottenham forward Darren Bent has encouraged the club to sign Carlos Vinicius on a permanent basis. The forward could cost the side around £41million. Bent was of the opinion that Vinicius knows his role at Spurs, which is to play understudy to Harry Kane.

In 6 appearances for Spurs this season, the forward has managed to rack up 3 goals and assists each.

Spurs can benefit from making this deal permanent

It was a well-known fact that Spurs had always struggled to keep a decent backup striker ever since Harry Kane became their main man in the attack. They tried a variety of players such as Vincent Janssen, Fernando Llorente, etc. but none of them was good enough to take over when Kane was sidelined or needed rest.

The deal for Carlos Vinicius came as a much-needed relief for Jose Mourinho. Spurs are in the midst of a gruelling season with up to three matches in some weeks. Their squad depth will be tested to the brim. However, the club have done fairly well so far this season.

This is in large part due to the ability to rest Kane during the Europa League games and letting Vinicius play those out. For the time being, Vinicius can remain as an understudy to Kane and learn from the world-class striker.

He has performed his role well at the club and looks like a forward Spurs can keep for the long-term. While £41million seems a tad bit high, Spurs would be getting a quality player who offers a different skill set to Kane.
