Toni Storm is a popular wrestler whose real name is Toni Rossall. She was born on October 19, 1995. Her mother and father parted ways at a very young age, and she moved to Australia’s Gold Coast with her mother after they separated.

Toni Storm developed a lot of interest in wrestling, and she started wrestling at the very young age of 13. When she turned 18, she shifted to England with her grandmother to work more on her wrestling career.

She made her WWE wrestling debut with Progress Wrestling from 2015–2018, and she made her first debut on April 14, 2015, by defeating Elizabeth. She was also the Progress Women’s Champion.

She had worked with the World Wonder Ring Stardom from 2016 to 2018. In June 2017, she announced her debut with the WWE, and later on, she joined All Elite Wrestling in 2022. Let us take a deep dive into why Toni left the WWE for AEW.

Why Toni Storm left WWE for AEW?

Toni Storm’s departure from WWE caught a lot of attention. Fans were busy investigating why Toni left the WWE. However, a list of a few reasons forced her to leave the WWE.

Toni stated that there was a lack of opportunities and many championship opportunities wherein she did not succeed. She also stated that her career in WWE was not thriving and there was no job security in the WWE, but she chose to leave for AEW.

She started working with the WWE in 2018 and was there until December 2021. She reached the finals of the Mae Young Classic and became the focal point of NXT UK’s brand champion, and her wrestling makes it quite evident that she was a star and she had a lot of potential.

Though, even though she spent time at NXT, it wasn’t that fruitful. In NXT, she lacked character and a sense of direction, and she was two shots away from Io Shirai.

There were a lot of reasons why it didn’t work out for Storm. Toni just got two matches on Smackdown, and she lost in two minutes of the Queen’s Crown tournament.

She was also one of the few wrestlers who were eliminated in the Raw vs. Smackdown Survivor Series elimination match. Her feud with Charlotte Flair also caused her to look bad, and she had a pie thrown in her face.

At the AEW, she fought with Baker, Hayter, Hikaru, and Shida to become the AEW Interim Women’s World Champion. She has been performing quite well in the AEW, and her position has improved since leaving the WWE.
