Why Richarlison would be a better signing for Chelsea than Lorenzo Insigne

Eden Hazard’s move to Real Madrid is around the corner, and while there have been no confirmation or an announcement, that’s something to be taken for granted. Chelsea gave their signal by signing Christian Pulisic from Dortmund, with the American due to arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer. But his presence won’t be enough to replace the Premier League’s leading playmaker, who has 10 assists and scored 12 goals this season alone.

That being said, the Blues have targeted Everton star Richarlison and Napoli superstar Lorenzo Insigne, to possibly replace Hazard. Both wingers have been in fine form this season, with the Everton man scoring 10 goals and the Napoli man netting eight

While those numbers are far behind what Eden Hazard has done this season, Maurizio Sarri would believe that one of the two wingers alongside Pulisic can be the solution to replacing the prolific Hazard.

Whether that’s true or not, it’s a reasonable assumption and given the current state of the transfer window, any move for Hazard will net Chelsea upwards of a £100million. Everton signed Richarlison for around £50million, while Liverpool had a £60million bid rejected for Insigne, with a report revealing that it fell well short of Napoli’s valuation of £131million.

For Chelsea however, a move for either star will come with its fair share of risk and rewards. Insigne looks a better prospect, but Richarlison seems to be the right fit for the Blues. The Premier League is easily one of the toughest leagues to play football in, however, the latter has impressed one and all with his returns in front of goal – both for Everton and Watford.

Whether it’s under Marco Silva’s tutelage or something else, a move for Richarlison would be the best option, given the fact that the Brazilian has taken to life in England’s top-flight like a fish in the water. Time and more experience should further improve the 21-year-old Everton star and under Maurizio Sarri, like many before him, he could find a new gear.

The manager has the ability to take the best of his forward players.  A move for Richarlison would essentially be a long-term solution and alongside Christian Pulisic, 20 and Callum Hudson-Odoi, 18, Chelsea will have a front line that can take them forward in the next few years.
