Why signing for WWE could be a good move for Chuck Liddell

Shane McMahon recently claimed he just wanted one call from Chuck Liddell to get him into WWE

Many MMA fighters have made the transition to WWE and vice versa in recent years, and Chuck Liddell could be the next one.

Ronda Rousey might be the most successful from that list but the likes of Matt Riddle and Shayna Baszler prove that there is scope for them to star if the right training is provided.

Some WWE stars have also tried their luck in MMA with Brock Lesnar actually doing well and picking up the UFC title.

Cain Velasquez recently featured in a WWE special and another one is being linked with a move.

Chuck Liddell is a legend in the MMA business and Shane McMahon was more than happy to speak about this.

McMahon said all that was needed to get this done was one phone call, and that could open the door for another shot at the top for Liddell.

A star in the making?

Now Liddell is far from the youngest MMA fighter to possibly move to WWE. The 50-year-old has been battered a lot in his career but last fought against Tito Ortiz for the Golden Boy Promotions.

Ortiz won that fight while Liddell’s career record became 21-9. However, the American would do a decent job in WWE.

Currently, there are a few MMA stars, as stated, and Liddell could have his own position on the roster.

It isn’t to say that the 50-year-old would be the top star on Raw or SmackDown after coming in. But he could work on his WWE skills and spend a few years in the promotion.

Stars such as Ric Flair wrestled in their 50s while The Undertaker and Goldberg are featuring regularly or at least in PPVs.

Performing in WWE also isn’t as strenuous on the body as fighting in the UFC or other MMA promotions.

Liddell could also take a role of a manager, should he decide not to fight, but he still has a few years of WWE action left in him.

Another example of a MMA star actually doing well is Ken Shamrock. The 56-year-old regularly features on TNA and was once considered as the best martial artist in the world.

Liddell’s career would also be extended by a few years by trying out in WWE. If his character works with the fans, we could see him become one of the top stars in the business.

WWE does lack someone, apart from Lesnar and maybe Drew McIntyre, who is someone who is a no-nonsense kind of person and that could be filled by Liddell.
