Why West Ham signing Ross Barkley would be quite beneficial

The Hammers boss David Moyes is keen on reuniting with Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley at West Ham, according to The Mirror. Barkley is a product of the Everton youth academy and was tipped to be their next best product after Wayne Rooney.

The midfielder had early loan spells with Sheffield United and then later at Leeds before going on to become a regular with Everton and becoming a key figure in their midfield. In the 2016-17 season, the player decided against extending his contract and joined Chelsea the next season.

Since joining the Blues, the midfielder has made 76 appearances scoring 9 times, including thrice in the FA Cup this season. This includes the winning goal against Leicester City last week. The midfielder missed a couple of months this season due to injuries but has otherwise made it to match days, either staying on the bench or being used as a substitute.

Do West Ham need the player?

West Ham are just 3 points above the relegation zone and are in need of adding more reinforcements to their side. And midfield should be one of the top priorities for the club as the new season approaches.

The Hammers should look to strengthen their squad and Ross Barkley would improve the depth and quality in the central midfield department at West Ham United. The player has experience in the Premier League, having featured for both the Toffees as well as the Blues.

For West Ham, Mark Noble is entering the last phase of his career, while Jack Wilshire has struggled for fitness ever since he joined from the Gunners back in 2018. Carlos Sánchez failed to impress and has left the club.
