Why Rangers should invest in Crysencio Summerville for the future

According to Voetbal International (h/t The Sun), Rangers are interested in signing Feyenoord starlet Crysencio Summerville in the summer transfer window.

Summerville, 18, is a product of Feyenoord’s youth system. After impressing with the club’s youth squads, he was sent on loan spells to FC Dordrecht and ADO Den Haag. He featured for the latter club throughout the season and impressed in his time at Cars Jeans Stadium.

The teenager has played in various age-group levels for the Netherlands and was also part of the Dutch side that won the U17 European Championship in 2018. His impressive performances have also attracted the attention of several clubs across Europe. Clubs like Wolves, Anderlecht and RB Salzburg are also keen on securing the services of the winger, as per the report.

Summerville – A future star in Rangers’ attack

The Gers, meanwhile, have fallen to the dominance of their rivals Celtic for almost a decade and have not yet found the answer to end the Hoops’ dominance. Despite starting the season on a high note, they were left a long way behind when the season came to an abrupt end, losing the league title once again.

However, with the Scottish league season done and dusted, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will have another chance to try and overcome their rivals. And to be ahead of Celtic next season, the manager needs to bring in reinforcements and add depth to the squad.

The manager should focus on strengthening the wide areas. The Gers have a plethora of left-wing talents in their ranks but the same cannot be said of the other side. Despite having a huge squad, they have no natural right-wingers in their squad.

Thus, they need to bring a forward, who can play on the right side of the attack with ease. In that regard, signing Summerville would help them in right-winger for the future. The Dutch youngster has racked up 2 goals and 3 assists in 21 Eredivisie games and his numbers are impressive for someone of his age.

He is just 18 and has a lot of room for development. And under the guidance of Gerrard, he could become a crucial player for Rangers in the future. He has already shown immense potential with Den Haag this season on loan and could be a valuable addition to the Scottish giants’ squad.

Verdict

With a lack of options on the right side of the frontline, it is clear that the Gers are in dire need of right-wingers. And Summerville could add depth to the squad, whilst also bringing in his quality too. Thus, they should lure the Dutch teenager to Ibrox this summer.
