Why Niklas Sule would be a great signing for Manchester United

According to Bild (h/t ESPN), Niklas Sule dreams of playing for Manchester United one day. With the Red Devils struggling to get decent defensive cover, Sule’s ‘dream’ could bode well for them. Not quite so for Bayern who are struggling to keep another of their defensive stars tied down to the club.

The German international rose through the youth system at Hoffenheim and carved out a reputation for himself as one of the hottest young defensive talents in the country. He spent four successful seasons at Hoffenheim before moving to giants Bayern Munich in the summer of 2017. His stocks have continued to soar high ever since.

Sule, who was a part of Germany’s squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, had established himself as a regular at the back for Bayern under manager Niko Kovac and played a key role in his team’s surge for the Bundesliga title. However, he became a much more peripheral figure under Hansi Flick.

The 24-year-old has made a total of 109 appearances for the Bavarian giants so far. He is slowly regaining his place back in the team especially after the David Alaba contract saga and Jerome Boateng’s contract also running out.

Sule would surely be a welcome addition at Manchester United

By now pretty much everyone knows he badly Manchester United are struggling defensively and how reluctant they have been to sign a defender. This term has been no different, with quite some embarrassing losses in their opening few games as they again struggle through the early stages of a campaign.

Niklas Sule didn’t have the best of campaigns last season as he was ruled out for most of the season with a Cruciate Ligament injury.

So what do you do when a player vaguely points to the fact that he/she wants to play for you some day? You obviously go and sign him. Or at least make efforts to do so.
