Why Manchester United should revive their interest in Adam Hlozek

According to Goal (h/t Daily Express), Premier League side Manchester United had shown an interest in Sparta Prague attacker Adam Hlozek.

The 17-year-old forward has been in sensational form this season for the Czech top-flight side, scoring 9 goals and providing as many assists from 38 matches across all competitions. Despite still being in his teens, Hlozek, who can operate on both flanks, has so far featured 61 times for Sparta Prague. He has 13 goals and 12 assists to his name.

Hlozek’s goal-scoring prowess at such a young age and a short period of time for the senior side gives a glimpse of the young forward’s talent. A Sparta Prague academy product, Hlozek had already proved his potential last season when he racked up 4 goals and 3 assists in his maiden campaign for the senior side.

Having proved himself now as a first-team regular, this is not the first time that Hlozek has turned heads. In fact, the young attacker had already received attention from Premier League sides such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich when he was just 15.

Hlozek fits the kind of player Manchester United need

His recent exploits have garnered him attention once more and the report claims that Sparta Prague will be forced to sell the sought-after attacker Adam Hlozek in the upcoming transfer window.

Meanwhile, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trying to build a team filled with young and hungry talents that can sustain the club for the future. The signings of young players like Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka last summer are examples of this approach.

Both James and Wan-Bissaka have proved Solskjaer’s decision right by establishing themselves as key members within the side and helping them to 5th place in the table. Wan-Bissaka has featured 30 times, while James has made 31 league appearances respectively, growing in stature with time.

Apart from Wan-Bissaka and James, Solskjaer also handed first-team opportunities for teenagers and academy graduates Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams. Both of them have had a breakthrough season so far, with 18-year-old Greenwood now nailing down the right-wing spot for himself.

Verdict

With as many as five wingers in the side already, it is certain that first-team opportunities will be limited for young Hlozek at Manchester United. However, he is the kind of young and hungry talent, who has proved his mettle already at Sparta Prague. Moreover, he is only 17 now and could prove to be an excellent future signing for the Red Devils.
