Why Manchester United should plot a move for Antoine Griezmann
As per the Spanish outlet Sport (h/t MEN), Manchester United are interested in signing Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann as the Catalan giants are willing to offload the forward in the summer.
Griezmann, 29, came through the ranks of Real Sociedad’s youth system and established himself as a world-class player with Atletico Madrid. In his five seasons with the Rojiblancos, he helped them lift the Spanish Super Cup, Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup once each.
The Frenchman has been in terrific form for the past few years and was also instrumental in France’s World Cup-winning campaign.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have been in good form for the past few months as they haven’t lost any of the last 11 games across all competitions. They are currently 5th in the league table and are hoping for Champions League qualification.
United’s forwards have been brilliant in recent weeks, scoring 29 goals in the 11 unbeaten games and, at the same time, the defence has done an incredible job in keeping 9 clean sheets. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to reinforce his squad in the summer if they are to perform at the highest level next season.
Odion Ighalo was signed on loan in January as a replacement for the injured Marcus Rashford. But nothing can be said of his future at the club beyond the end of this season. The Red Devils are without a world-class forward who can lead them in every competition.
Therefore, they need to get back to their best by bringing in top quality players in the summer to bolster their attacking unit. In that case, going all out for Antoine Griezmann would be a good choice by the club.
The 29-year-old has scored 15 goals or more in each of the last 6 league campaigns. He has been one of the best forwards for both club and country.
Griezmann has made over 250 appearances for Atletico Madrid in the last five years. Though he has not been at his best for Barcelona this season, he has already notched up 14 goals and 4 assists for the Catalans.
The French international is a proven goalscorer and has also been at the top of his game for a long time. He could be a huge boost to United’s squad for the next season and would definitely bring in his vast qualities to the team.

United have world-class players since the days of Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and a few more. They have struggled to claim their top spot and with Griezmann in their ranks, they can hope to get back to their best.
Therefore, the Red Devils must make a prompt move for the former Atletico Madrid man and lure him to Old Trafford in the summer.
