Why Harry Wilson would be a fantastic fit at Leeds United

According to Football Insider (h/t Yorkshire Evening Post), Leeds United are keen on signing Liverpool forward Harry Wilson, who currently plies his trade with Bournemouth on loan. The winger is rated at £25m.

Wilson, 23, is a product of Liverpool’s youth system. He made 60 appearances for the Reds U23 side, scoring 32 goals and providing 14 assists. However, he has found it hard to break into the first-team, managing just one senior appearance and has spent most of his career on loan.

He has been brilliant in the last few seasons of his loan spell. After a productive campaign with Derby County last year, he was sent on loan to the South Coast club last summer and has impressed once again. And it would be the right decision for Wilson to leave Anfield to progress in his career. Thus, Leeds United should make a move for the Wales international.

Leeds are on the verge of getting promoted to the Premier League but most of their main players are on loan from different clubs. Thus, if they have to sustain in the top flight, the manager needs to rope in fresh faces on a permanent basis.

Wilson could a fantastic addition for Leeds United

One key area the manager should focus on strengthening is the frontline. Patrick Bamford is the only striker available at the moment. RB Leipzig loanee Jean-Kevin Augustin has missed most of the games due to injury and would be on his way back to Germany once his loan spell comes to an end.

Also, the Whites have limited options in the wide areas. Jack Harrison, who has racked up 8 goals and 6 assists so far, is on loan from Manchester City and his future is yet to be decided. And Helder Costa is also on loan from Wolves.

Apart from that, they have only Ivan Poveda, who just made his debut for the Whites. Thus, if the loanees leave, Leeds would find it difficult in the wide areas. Thus, a winger is a must in the summer.

In that regard, signing Wilson would do them a world of good. The young Welshman is in a rich vein of form. After racking up 15 goals and 3 assists for Derby last season, he has continued the fine form this term.

Despite the Cherries’ poor campaign, he has managed to score 7 goals. He would definitely add depth to Bielsa’s squad and could be a valuable player for Leeds next season.

At 23, it is time for Wilson to take his game to the next level and leaving Liverpool would be the best idea. At the same time, Leeds are also in dire need of wingers and the youngster could bring in his quality to Elland Road. He could also go on to represent the Whites in the long run if he is able to replicate the good form.
