Why Everton should offload Yannick Bolasie in the summer

According to Liverpool Echo, the agent of Everton’s Yannick Bolasie has claimed that the winger, who is currently on loan with Sporting Lisbon, would return to Goodison Park once the season ends.

Bolasie, 30, had played for several clubs including Plymouth, Bristol City, and Crystal Palace before joining the Toffees in the summer of 2016 for £25m. After two unproductive years, he has been on several loan moves and currently plies his trade in Portugal.

He has not been at his best and has just one goal in 14 league games while providing 3 assists. And therefore, Everton should look to sell him in the summer.

Everton themselves have struggled throughout the campaign despite a change in management. They have been inconsistent and are currently 12th in the league table after failing to win any of their last three games.

Forwards Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are the only players who have been in form since the start of the campaign. And therefore, Ancelotti should look to bring in reinforcements in several key areas if they are to do well in the next campaign, right from the start.

And to bring in fresh faces, the manager should look to sell players who have not contributed enough and seem surplus to their requirements. In that regard, selling Yannick Bolasie would be a good choice for the club.

The DR Congo international’s most productive campaign in the Premier League came with Crystal Palace way back in the 2014/15 season, when he scored 4 goals and provided 11 assists. Since then, he has failed to contribute with more than 5 goals and assists in each of the campaign in the top flight. And none of his loan spells have been fruitful.

Everton already have three left-wingers in their ranks in Richarlison, Bernard and Alex Iwobi. Richarlison has been brilliant throughout the campaign with 10 goals and 3 assists and has established himself as a regular starter.

Whereas, Bernard and Iwobi, who haven’t been at their best, are capable of doing well as a backup for the Brazilian forward. Therefore, Everton should not waste their resources by holding on to the DR Congo international.

Verdict

Everton are in dire need of established players to lift them to the top in the league and they can sign their targets only if the fringe players are sold. Thus, selling Bolasie would be helpful for both the player and the club as he would eventually just end up on the bench.
