Why Everton should not sell Moise Kean to PSG

According to Sky Sports, Everton are mulling over a permanent sale of Moise Kean to PSG. The forward is on loan at the French club for this season and has performed rather well. It is being said that new manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen on keeping Kean on a permanent basis. A £31million deal is in discussion.

Kean is having a good season at PSG

Having only played a bit-part role at Everton last season, the Italy international continued to struggle for regular minutes this term as well. He scored in the Toffees’ EFL Cup victories over Salford City and Fleetwood Town but found himself down the pecking order when it came to the Premier League.

It seemed highly unlikely that Kean would ever get a look in from Ancelotti ahead of the in-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has set the stage on fire with his blistering start to the campaign. Calvert-Lewin looks set for a wonderful campaign after netting 11 goals so far and Kean would have found his opportunities limited had he stayed put at the club.

In hindsight, the loan move to PSG looks like it has worked out very well. Kean has flourished there with 9 goals in 16 games. He has hardly looked out of place amongst much bigger stars such as Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. Instead, he has become a vital part of the side so far.

Everton should avoid the mistake of a permanent sale

While £31million for a player who hasn’t played well for the club sounds like a good deal, Everton need to avoid making that move. Yes, Calvert-Lewin looks like he is in the form of his life and looks like he can do no wrong. However, nothing is certain in football and it does not take much to have a rough patch.

Kean may not have had a good beginning to his Everton career but one needs to realise he is just 20 and was even younger when he joined the club. It’s hard to fathom that at just 20 years of age, he has played for clubs like Juventus, Everton and PSG.

It would seem hasty on Everton’s part to let go of such a talented player, even if the offer is good. Kean has talent and he has shown it this season. Perhaps, this move away from the club can kickstart his Everton career once he returns to Goodison Park. Kean has a bright future and lots of time to make something of his Everton career. The club should also realise that and try not to cash in on him.
