Why Erling Haaland can be the blockbuster signing that Chelsea need

According to The Athletic, Erling Haaland has emerged as a transfer target for Chelsea next summer. The club believe that he can help them push for the Premier League and Champions League.

A number of other clubs such as Manchester United, City and Real Madrid are interested in the Dortmund starlet and Chelsea are looking to pip them to his signing.

Erling Haaland has been in sensational form over the last season

It’s perhaps hard to describe the levels of performance the Norwegian has produced in the last 12-18 months. Ever since his hat-trick against KRC Genk in the Champions League, he has been scoring goals at a rapid rate. His exploits ensured a move to Borussia Dortmund last year.

He has continued on his merry goalscoring ways, with 35 goals in 36 games for them. While Dortmund aren’t having the best of seasons, Haaland has managed to keep up the intensity with his regular levels of scoring. At just 20 years of age, it is scary to think how much better he can get with age.

Chelsea need a signing like Haaland

The Blues brought in the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell in the summer, yet, as the season rolls into the halfway mark, Chelsea look a long way off from the Premier League crown. They have suffered against the better sides as their new signings look to be misfiring.

Their biggest problems have been in the final third, with Timo Werner failing to reach the same heights he showed at RB Leipzig. Whether leading the line or playing wide, Werner has not looked comfortable. Adding a target man like Haaland should help the cause.

The Norwegian burst onto the scene with a Champions League hat-trick for RedBull Salzburg and has not looked back since then. He has seamlessly adapted to his new surroundings in Germany and has had no problems whatsoever.

In Haaland, Chelsea would be getting a long-term goalscorer. He is young and is already showing glimpses of being a world-class attacker. At Stamford Bridge, he will have a star-studded cast to support him.

The prospect of Werner, Pulisic and Haaland lining up together is sure to send chills down the opposition’s spine given the amount of goal threat this attack carries.

Sure, it would be a daunting step to perform at those levels at Chelsea but Haaland looks like a natural goalscorer. No matter the situation, no matter the club, he seems to keep finding the net with ridiculous ease.

He looks like the ideal player to ease their goalscoring issues and even help Werner flourish. This might just be a huge addition for Chelsea due to multiple factors.
