The Rock named Harvey Wippleman as the ‘greatest wrestler of all time’

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came up with an unexpected response when the WWE on Fox Twitter page questioned the fans whether The Rock or “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was the Greatest of All Time.

The Rock, responding to the post, claimed that Downtown Bruno aka Harvey Wippleman was the G.O.A.T.

While Stone Cold came second for the Rock, he clearly hasn’t forgotten all that Bruno did for him.

Who is Downtown Bruno?

Downtown Bruno will be known to most WWF/WWE fans from the 90’s as Harvey Wippleman. During his time with the promotion, Wippleman managed several high-profile clients such as Kamala and Sid Justice.

Wippleman was the one who introduced the near eight-foot tall Giant Gonzalez to the WWF, thrusting him into a feud with The Undertaker.

But perhaps, Wippleman’s most notable and most bizarre accomplishment during his time with the promotion came in 2001, when he won the WWE Women’s Champion while in a disguise.

Why did The Rock name Wippleman as the G.O.A.T?

The Rock is a name synonymous with WWF/WWE. The ‘Great One’ is, without a doubt, one of the best and most popular WWE Superstars of all time. In addition, he is also one of the biggest Hollywood movie stars as well.

However, despite his success, The Rock hasn’t forgotten the difficult times he had to face in the past and how Harvey Wippleman came to his rescue in one such situation.

When he was just 15 years old, The Rock was broke and had been evicted by his tenant. With no money and place to stay, he was helped by Wippleman, who let The Rock stay at his home in Nashville.

Not forgetting what Bruno/Wippleman did for him, The Rock has named him the G.O.A.T in wrestling. He also went on to add that “Stone Cold” Steve Austin comes in a close second.
