Why did Andrew Luck retire from the NFL?

When Peyton Manning was to be replaced by Indianapolis Colts – they turned their attention towards one of the most sought-after amateur Quarterback, Andrew Luck. Having shown trust in a young Quarterback on the big stage, Luck did not disappoint the Indianapolis Colts’ franchise and its fanbase.

Many would agree that Andrew Luck was the real deal, who was blessed with a cannon of an arm and underrated rushing ability before his ugly and sudden shoulder injury. Just as Luck was approaching his prime and was looking all set to take over the league, he unceremoniously retired from the league at just the age of 29.

Named as the Comeback Player of the Year, the Indianapolis Colts already had plans off bolstering the offensive lineup around Andrew Luck. On the same note, his retirement decision caused due to injuries shocked not only the management but the entire sports world.

What is Andrew Luck doing now?

Andrew Luck missed a full season and a half in total during his career and was banged up in most of the games he played. Having had immense amount of talent, it seemed like Luck’s offensive and passing prowess was hampered due to his nightmarish string of injuries.

In his press conference, wherein he announced his decision, Luck quoted, “I’ve been stuck in this process; I haven’t been able to live the life I want. It’s taken the joy out of this game. The only way forward for me is to remove myself from football. This is not an easy decision. It’s the hardest decision of my life. But it is the right decision for me.”

Since then, this former Colts’ QB has had nothing to do with football and was even reported to be happy and glad in spending time with his wife and daughter. However, he is known to occasionally attend football practice sessions, the most notable being when he visited a Summit High School football practice session during a recent ski trip to Summit County, Colorado.
