Why Cody Drameh would be a good future investment for Manchester City

According to Goal (h/t MEN), Manchester City are keeping track of Fulham youngster Cody Drameh ahead of the summer transfer window.

Drameh, 18, is a product of Fulham’s youth system. The youngster was promoted to the Cottagers’ U23 side last summer. Since then, he has been a regular member and has caught a lot of attention with his impressive performances.

He also made his debut for England’s U18 last March and is one of the best young talents in the country. Thus, Manchester City should make a move for the teenager and keep him for the future.

Though Man City’s attack has been brilliant, their defence has failed miserably. They have already conceded 33 goals this season, which is more than the 23 goals they conceded in the whole of last campaign. And it is clear that Guardiola needs a central defender in the summer.

And investing in the youth would do them a world of good. Especially with the pandemic causing a ruckus in the finances of the clubs, signing a youngster would be a wise decision by City. They could be able to save for the future.

Drameh – A future right-back for Manchester City?

Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo are the two right-backs available at the manager’s disposal. However, the Englishman has been a regular in the squad, having become a key member for the Cityzens. Walker seems to be one of the best players at the back for City.

On the other hand, Portuguese ace Cancelo hasn’t received enough opportunities. He has also been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent times. And if that happens, City’s depth at right-back would be reduced. Thus, a right-back is a must in the summer.

In that regard, Drameh would be a viable option for the club. Though he is yet to make a first-team appearance, he has been brilliant for Fulham’s U23 squad. He has featured in 17 Premier League 2 games and has racked up 7 assists in the process. He could be used in City’s youth teams before developing himself into a Premier League material under the guidance of Guardiola.

Verdict

With Walker already 30 and reaching the back end of his career, City need to inject young blood into the squad. Drameh could be a valuable addition to City’s squad in the future. Thus, they should make a move for the teenager and lure him to Etihad in the summer.
