Why Yves Bissouma can be a fantastic signing for Liverpool

According to Metro, Liverpool are considering Yves Bissouma as a possible replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum. The Liverpool man’s future is the subject of debate as he reaches the final 6 months of his contract. However, Liverpool will have to fend off the likes of Manchester United, AS Monaco and a few other clubs to sign Bissouma.

Yves Bissouma is a 24-year-old Malian midfielder who plays for Brighton and Hove Albion. He had stints at Majestic SCC and JMG Academy Bamako during his youth career from 2009 to 2014. His first senior footballing experience would come at AS Real Bamako.

In 2016, he was signed by LOSC Lille and drafted to their ‘B’ team. Within a year he was promoted to the senior side and went on to appear in 55 games, scoring 4 goals and assisting 2 more. After two years there, he moved to England in 2018, joining Brighton.

Since his move in 2018, Bissouma has become one of the most important players for Brighton. In 69 appearances for the Seagulls, he has scored 3 goals and assisted once. A full international for Mali, he has 14 caps and 3 goals for them till date.

Bissouma can be the ideal replacement for Wijnaldum

Since joining the club in 2016, Wijnaldum has been an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side. The midfielder is a dynamo on the pitch, covering every blade of grass and not stopping till the final whistle. He has been used in multiple positions as per the team’s requirement and perhaps scored two of the most important goals in Liverpool’s recent history against Barcelona.

However, as January draws close his contract is set to step into the final six months and clubs can sign him on a pre-contract agreement. Liverpool need not worry so much as they might not have to look too far for a replacement.

The Brighton man is adept at carrying the ball from his own half to the opposition area. It is not easy to dispossess him off the ball. He is one of the reasons why Brighton are such a tricky team to deal with.

This is one player Liverpool need to get. A Premier League player through and through, he will add much quality to the Reds midfield.
