Why Bright Osayi-Samuel would be a fantastic fit at Burnley

As per The Sun (h/t The Shields Gazette), Burnley are interested in signing QPR forward Bright Osayi-Samuel in the summer.

Osayi-Samuel, 21, is a product of Blackpool’s youth system. Since getting promoted to the club’s senior team, he made 79 appearances, scoring 5 goals and providing 6 assists. He was later snapped up by Queens Park Rangers in August 2017 and he has gone on to become a key player for the Superhoops.

Till date, he has made 88 appearances for QPR and has been impressive since moving to The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. His performances have also garnered attention from Belgian outfit Club Brugge, as per the report.

The Nigerian is one of the most exciting young talents in the Championship and thus, Burnley should make a move for him this summer.

Osayi-Samuel could slot into Burnley’s attack

The manager should, first and foremost, focus on strengthening the wide areas. At the moment, only two wingers are available at Dyche’s disposal – Dwight McNeil and Johann Berg Gudmundsson. Youngster McNeil has been brilliant throughout the campaign, scoring 2 goals and 6 assists but Iceland international Gudmundsson has made just 8 appearances so far.

Moreover, McNeil’s impressive form has attracted a lot of big clubs and he has been linked with a move away from Turf Moor. And this would leave them with just out-of-form Gudmundsson in the squad. Thus, a winger is a necessity in the summer.

In that regard, signing Osayi-Samuel would help the Clarets secure their future. The Nigerian’s rise has been a rather swift one and he has already shown immense potential in the Championship. This season, he has managed to score 5 goals in 33 league games while setting up 8 more. He has also put in some match-winning displays and helped his side to 13th position in the league standings.

Given his recent form, he could be a valuable addition to Dyche’s squad as he could provide them with some much-needed depth. He is just 21 and has a lot of room for development under the guidance of Dyche.

Verdict

With a lack of depth in the wide areas, it is clear that Burnley are in dire need of wingers. And Osayi-Samuel could provide them with quality up front. He has a huge future ahead of him and could go on to represent them in the long run if he is able to replicate the same form. Thus, signing him would be a wise move for the future.
