Why Adrian Grbic to Brighton would bolster their attack

According to LeTelegramme (h/t The Shields Gazette), Brighton and Hove Albion remain keen on signing Austrian striker Adrian Grbic in the summer.

Grbic, 23, came through the ranks of Rapid Wien and VFB Stuttgart’s youth ranks. After impressing for two years with SCR Altach in the Austrian Bundesliga, French side Clermont Foot signed him last summer.

He has come through various age-group levels with Austria and has been a regular member of the U21 squad. This season, he has been in sensational form for the French outfit and his impressive form has attracted interest from Celtic and Rangers, as per The Express.

Brighton have endured a disappointing campaign so far. They have been dumped out of cup competitions, whilst also finding themselves at 15th place in the league table. The Seagulls haven’t won any of their last 9 league games and are just two points above the relegation zone.

They have been inconsistent throughout the campaign. Though their forwards have been decent, Brighton have managed to score just 32 goals. The defence has also not been at its best, conceding 40 goals so far.

Graham Potter has not been able to get the best out of his men. Thus, the manager needs to bring in reinforcements to the squad in order to turn around the fortunes next season.

Grbic could make Brighton’s attack powerful

Neal Maupay, Aaron Connolly and Glenn Murray are the three centre-forwards available at the manager’s disposal. Maupay has been brilliant despite the club’s poor performances, racking up 8 goals and 2 assists in 28 league games.

Connolly and Murray have also done a decent job in a supportive role. However, Murray is already 36 and is reaching the back end of his career and Connolly is just 20. The Irish youngster is still in his learning curve and cannot be depended upon for an entire season.

In that regard, signing Grbic would be a good move by the club. The Austrian has been in sensational form this term, scoring 17 goals in 26 games. He has improved a lot from the last campaign and is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.

His inclusion would also bring healthy competition within the squad. Grbic is in the form of his life and could definitely provide the Seagulls with much-needed extra goals.

At 23, he is at the right time of his life to take a step into the Premier League. Given his recent successful form, Grbic could bolster the Seagulls attack and could also go on to represent them in the future. Thus, Brighton must make a move for the Austrian youngster in the summer.
