Nyla Rose recently won a title on AEW but there isn’t a lot of information before her time in wrestling regarding her surgery

Nyla Rose became the first openly transgender wrestler to sign for a major American wrestling company (AEW) but the 37-year-old has had a long and tough journey to the top.

It is tough as it is to make it big in the professional wrestling business thanks to the immense competition to get into the top places.

WWE is the biggest promotion with AEW, TNA and ROH trying their best to battle the behemoth. Rose also started her career in independent and smaller promotions and also had a history of trying out wrestling in a school.

The 37-year-old in an SI interview highlighted the tough decision that she had to take regarding her transition but added there was a point of no return:

“I was like, I have to do this for me. I’m sorry. I tried to be who you wanted me to be. I tried to live for other people, but at a certain point I had to stop doing that for my own health and wellbeing.”

SI adds that Rose had only wrestled a bit before she got a try-out for Cody Covey, who was impressed with her abilities in the ring and didn’t’ care about her gender.

Rose impressed in several fights and even got a chance to feature on Japanese promotions which caught the eye of Kenny Omega.

The AEW star reached out to Rose and she became one of the biggest names in the women’s divisions of the fairly new promotion.

Although the 37-year-old won several titles during her time in the smaller promotions, she made some history recently.

Rose defeated Riho for the AEW Women’s World Championship and even attacked her opponent after winning the title.

The American became the first transgender woman to win a world title in a major US wrestling promotion.

Rose has been praised for her athletic ability and strength in the ring, and this was another barrier she broke in her professional career.

The 37-year-old has had bouts with other top stars such as Awesome Kong and Britt Baker.

Do we know anything about Nyla Rose before her surgery?

AEW and Rose have actually done a great job regarding the history of Rose and what all happened before her career in wrestling.

Although she has spoken about her transition in an interview, there really isn’t much information or photos of the 37-year-old available.

She did, however, ask for a chance to show off her skills in the ring, and thanked AEW for giving her a chance

“AEW has felt that I am worthy of a chance,” she says. “All I can ask is that some of the people out there, the fans who might be a little bit tight-minded, just give me a chance to show you what I can do in the ring. That’s all.”

Rose has also acted in the Canadian television show ‘The Switch’ where she played an IT manager that lost everything once she came out as a transgender.

The 37-year-old has broken the glass ceiling already in wrestling, and it will be important to see how she continues her growth in the coming years.
