Billy O’Toole was the star of the MTV show Families of the Mafia’. This is an American reality television series that premiered on MTV on April 9, 2020, in the United States. The show is a retooling of the short-lived Made in Staten Island.
Its predecessor focused on the lives of seven young adults living in Staten Island trying to avoid the influence of local organized crime. Its second season premiered on July 15, 2021. Billy O’Toole who was a member of the O’Toole family became the talking point of season 2. Let us find out what happened to him.
What happened to Billy O’Toole?
During the production of Families of the Mafia season one, Billy O’Toole of the Toole family was found dead in his home in Staten Island.
He was survived by his mother, Barbara O’Toole-Sheehan; his wife, Renee O’Toole, and seven children, (Matthew O’Toole, Joseph O’Toole, Taylor O’Toole, Lyric Antonio, William O’Toole, Michael O’Toole and Laila O’Toole,) as well as his four grandchildren.
During an episode of Family of The Mafia season one, a message was displayed on the screen which read: “During production, Billy [O’Toole] was found deceased in his Staten Island home.”
Billy’s ex-wife Jess revealed that he was discovered at 7 am on July 14th 2019. This is what she said after the incident,
“We don’t know how it happened or why it happened, and once we get clarification of how this all happened and we put our family to rest and ease, then we’ll make it known. But as of right now, we still don’t know the cause of death.” (H/t realitytitbit)
Billy’s son Joe also opened up about the last time he saw his father,
“We were hanging out, drinking beers — everything was good. Two days later, I got the phone call my dad was dead. I did lose my best friend, my role model, my Superman.”
Season 2 of the show revolved around Billy’s death as his body was found during the season 1 finale.
They even investigated his death to check whether it was a suicide or murder.
During the season preview, the O’Toole family can be seen discussing the circumstances of Billy’s death. When asked by a private investigator about the cause of his father’s death, Joe stated that it was deemed “suicide.”
