A well-known Serbian politician Vesna Pesic lashed out at Novak Djokovic for his stance on vaccination against COVID-19. Pesic went to the extent of calling the 21-time Grand Slam champion “uneducated” for opting to stay unvaccinated against COVID-19.

In a tweet, she claimed that she was a fan of Djokovic and questioned when the tennis star would get vaccinated now that he is 35 years old.

“As a well-known Djokovic fan, I wonder when he will protect his body from the vaccine at the age of 35? And those millions who received the vaccine and their bodies are dead cold, he really doesn’t care. When you infect the brain, it’s not very good. Will we see Novak Djokovic in action at the US Open?

As it stands, Novak Djokovic is still not eligible to play at Flushing Meadows this year. The 2021 US Open finalist is still unvaccinated and as per the US Government rule, an unvaccinated foreign traveler is not allowed to enter the country.

However, there is still a glimmer of hope as the latest CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines state that all individuals will be treated the same irrespective of their vaccination status.

This rule is currently applicable to US citizens only. However, if the CDC decides to make this rule applicable to people of other nationalities then we might get to see the champion player in action at the US Open.
