Why Emiliano Buendia would be a very useful addition to West Ham

According to Football.London, West Ham are understood to be interested in signing Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia.

The 23-year-old joined the Canaries in the summer of 2018 from Getafe. He adapted to life in England like a duck to water, scoring 8 goals and registering 12 assists in the Championship last term as Norwich City achieved promotion.

The Argentinean has been one of the rare bright spots for the Canaries this season, racking up 7 assists in 28 Premier League games so far. And Buendia’s performances have caught West Ham’s attention ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Hammers have royally struggled with consistency for the majority of the campaign. They are currently 16th in the table after the completion of 29 games. Due to their poor form, David Moyes signed few players in January to lift the morale of his squad. He brought in Tomas Soucek on loan from Slavia Prague and signed the exciting Jarrod Bowen from Hull City.

Both Soucek and Bowen have impressed in their short time at the club so far. However, West Ham need more reinforcements if they are to progress under the leadership of Moyes. One important area the Scotsman should reinforce is the midfield department despite the loan signing of Soucek in January.

The Hammers are in need of more quantity and quality in central midfield, especially as skipper Mark Noble is set to turn 33 before the season comes to a conclusion. Jack Wilshere’s nightmare with injuries has continued at the London Stadium, with the midfielder yet to start a Premier League game since September.

Carlos Sanchez is likely to leave at the end of his contract in June, while the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Felipe Anderson have flattered to deceive over the past 12 months. That being said, the East London outfit must do everything in their powers to sign Emiliano Buendia from Norwich.

The 23-year-old has raised the standards of his game and would certainly add depth and quality to the Hammers squad.

Verdict

At 23, Buendia is still young and has great room for improvement. The Argentinean has got a taste of Premier League football and has shown what a solid all-action player he is. All in all, he would be a very useful addition for West Ham.
