Jackson’s early life began in Miami, Florida, where she was born to Marlene Esther (née Blackstad) and James McCaslin Jackson. Her father, a gym coach, trained her in gymnastics from the age of 5 until she turned 18.

Upon completing high school, Jackson received a gymnastics scholarship and attended Florida Bible College in Hollywood, Florida. She later transferred to Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where she was given the opportunity to participate in her first play.
