UFC Vegas 64: Rodriguez vs Lemos – Take a look at the results and also the ones who received the bonus

This weekend, the UFC returned to the APEX facility with the main event that might be crucial for the strawweight division. Brazilians Marina Rodriguez and Amanda Lemos, both of whom were coming off significant victories squared off against each other. Daniel Rodriguez and octagon veteran Neil Magny squared off in the co-main event.

Marina Rodriguez vs Amanda Lemos poster

In the main event, Amanda Lemos defeated Marina Rodriguez in the third round by way of stoppage, earning her second consecutive victory and strengthening her claim to a shot at the championship.

The Brazilians were extremely respectful of one another in the opening round, not wanting to go into risky situations too soon. Rodriguez was under Lemos’ control for the duration of the second frame after a deft trip from her in the first round. Each lady came out more eager to throw in the third round, and when Lemos landed her right hand, Rodriguez appeared immediately dazed.

Lemos swarmed and unleashed a flurry of powerful blows that pinned Rodriguez against the fence and stupefied her, forcing referee Jason Herzog to intervene and put an end to the battle.

It was a huge victory for Lemos, ending Rodriguez’s winning streak and securing her a spot in the top five and possibly a chance to win a championship in 2023.

The co-main event between Neil Magny and Daniel Rodriguez from the beginning was extremely competitive, with neither man eager to give the other an inch. Magny had the upper hand in the first because of his jab, movement, and wide array of skills, but Rodriguez fought back by closing the gap and intimidating Magny on the feet in the second. Rodriguez appeared to sting Magny in the third, but he immediately recovered and went on the attack, switching to his wrestling.

He converted a front headlock position into a D’arce choke late in the round, forcing Rodriguez to submit. With the victory, Magny returned to winning ways and increased his Octagon record to 20-8, solidifying his position and leaving his mark on the sport.

With the third-round submission victory against Daniel Rodriguez on Saturday, Neil Magny now holds the record for the most victories in the UFC welterweight division’s history.

Darrick Minner injured himself with a kick early in their featherweight match, and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke pounced on the opportunity to secure a first-round knockout victory. Minner delivered a body kick, then retreated in agony as if he had hurt his knee. He delivered another kick as Nuerdanbieke advanced before being struck with a flying knee along the fence that knocked him to the ground. Following that, “The Wolverine” unleashed a barrage of blows that forced referee Mark Smith to intervene and break up the fight.

Nuerdanbieke has already won three straight fights, showing growth and progress in the talented featherweight division, while Minner has now lost three in a row.

In the featured bout on the card, Tagir Ulanbekov defeats Nate Maness by submission (guillotine choke) at 2:11 of the first round. Early in the battle, the Dagestani wrestler quickly tried to take Maness to the ground. When the flyweight debutant tried to get back to his feet, Ulanbekov caught him with a high-elbow guillotine choke. Maness was compelled to tap because, despite his best efforts, he was unable to escape the grasp.

This was about as dominant a return to the victory column as you’ll see in the flyweight class after dropping a decision to veteran Tim Elliott the last time out.
