While fights in the USA have been held at the Apex and some other locations, international fights are set to take place at Fight Island.

The location for Fight Island is Yas Island of Abu Dhabi in the UAE. The first event which will be held at Yas Island is UFC 251 which is on 11 July.

Big plans for the Island

White also confirmed that there would be four events in a month at UFC Fight Island and a lot of work is being done.

White spoke about the plans for the island and confirmed that everything will be done on the island. The president went on to say that no one will be allowed to leave the Island and they can train on their own too:

“Nobody will leave the island. They’re going to have their own private training quarters where people can train.

“We really do have an Octagon out in the sand. The infrastructure’s going to be unbelievable. The people in Abu Dhabi do everything right.”

The location is also set to have a dining area, hotel and a lot of other facilities to meet safety standards.

The UFC has to be careful regarding this location as the UAE has seen several cases of Covid-19. However, White is confident of ensuring the safety of all involved.

Many jokes had been cracked on what Fight Island was going to be. However, White seems to have gotten most things right so far.

UFC 251 is headlined by the Welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and the challenger, Gilbert Burns. There are two other championship bouts on the card. However, most of the talk will be revolving around Fight Island for weeks.
