Conor McGregor will be squaring off against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264

Conor McGregor will be looking forward to burying the ghosts of his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Irishman was knocked out for the very first time in his MMA career, which is something an MMA fighter would never want to experience, especially in a comeback fight.

He is now set to face-off against Poirier at UFC 264 on the 10th of July, and will look to settle the scores in his rivalry with the Diamond. The scoreline currently reads 1-1, after McGregor had gained the upper hand, almost 7 years before at UFC 178.

Elsewhere, up and coming UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley weighed in on their upcoming trilogy bout.

He told Helen Yee that McGregor looked fast and focused in his rematch against Poirier at UFC 257 and dismissed talks of the Irishman having a lack of motivation. Suga Sean stated that he would like to see McGregor win.

“Conor looked good in that fight. He looked fast, focused and sharp. Dustin was landing the bigger shot and put his lights out. I don’t think there is a lack of motivation from Conor, he looked good going into that fight. I am a big fan of both of them…You know, I’d like to see Conor win.”

Conor McGregor lands in California ahead of UFC 264

McGregor is back in America. The Irishman had been in Dubai ever since UFC 257 concluded. Earlier today, The Irishman took to Instagram to share a photo after returning to the United States.

However the post was quickly deleted by The Notorious. He had captioned the post:

“What’s up Cali, the Mac’s back and I’m here to make it rain.”

McGregor has been putting in the hard yards this time, as he looks to get back into title contention. He is expected to face Charles Oliveira if he manages to get past Poirier.
