UFC Vegas 53 to be headlined by top-ranked bantamweight fighters Rob Font and Marlon Chito Vera

Rob Font vs Chito Vera is the fight that no one expected but desperately needed, given the fact that UFC Vegas 53 did not have a main event. The fight is expected to be guaranteed fireworks, for the style of fighting both fighters bring to the table.

This fight will be third straight main event slot for Font, who lost his previous outing against Jose Aldo. Prior to that fight, he was on an impressive four-fight win streak and a massive favorite going into the fight.

No.12 ranked bantamweight in the world, Chito Vera has notable wins against Sean O’ Malley and Darvey Grant. He shocked the world by knocking out Frankie Edgar with a front kick to his face. The fight will be Vera’s first main event in a career that has lasted over eight years.

The news was first reported by Brett Okamoto on Twitter.

A win for either of the guys will take them up the bantamweight ladder, and a fight against top 5 or top 3 in the division.

Chito Vera suggests the idea of a grappling match between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Kamaru Usman

Reports had emerged earlier this month that Khabib’s fight promotion Eagles FC is working on a grappling match between him and GSP. Reacting to this news, Khabib’s longtime coach and mentor, Javier Mendez said that the Dagestani would absolutely dominate and demolish the UFC hall of famer.

Chito Vera did not appreciate the idea and tweeted out his response by saying, “GSP is a retire fighter! The cloud chase is big these days. Grapple usman same timeline.”

The idea does not seem so outlandish, since the idea of a super match has always interested fans. It also makes for an exciting event with the wrestling credentials of both fighters.
