NBA star Vince Carter retired from the sport after nearly two decades at the top

NBA legend Vince Carter called it a day as he retired from professional basketball recently. Carter will go down as one of the greatest dunkers in the game, and he is the only NBA star to have featured in a game across four decades.

His career could have stretched with more games under his belt had the coronavirus not impacted the NBA season.

Nevertheless, the 8-time NBA All-Star still is one of the greatest to have played the game, and it seems he inspired many sportspeople too.

UFC star Max Holloway recently tweeted about Carter’s decision to retire. The 28-year-old Holloway faces Alexander Volkanovski in a rematch for the UFC Featherweight title. Holloway lost that title to Volkanovski in his last fight, but the pair meet again on July 11 at UFC 251.

It seems Holloway is taking some inspiration from Carter and posted a touching message on social media.

It will be interesting to see what is up with Carter next. He will be remembered for his time with the Toronto Raptors and his crazy dunks.

Vinsanity, as he was named, didn’t win an NBA title during his 22 years in the league. However, he does leave behind some great memories.

Volkanovski vs Holloway

Volkanovski vs Holloway 2 should be a great fight, and it will be interesting to see how this goes. Holloway has an MMA record of 21 wins and five losses, with two losses coming in his last three bouts.

Volkanovski, for his part, has 21 wins and just a single loss in his MMA career. The Australian is unbeaten in his UFC career and is on an 18-fight win streak across promotions.

UFC 251 also will take place at Fight Island which is in Abu Dhabi. UFC 251 has three title bouts on its card, as Kamaru Usman defends his Welterweight title while Petr Yan and Jose Aldo clash for the vacant Bantamweight crown.
