Khamzat Chimaev is in the corner of Kamaru Usman should The Nigerian Nightmare face Canelo Alvarez

Boxing seems to be a hot topic for many UFC fighters in recent months. Francis Ngannou has made his wish clear of boxing in the future and his new UFC contract having the option for him to pursue that sport.

However, another star doing the same seems to be Kamaru Usman. The UFC Welterweight Champion is coming off a grand win over Colby Covington in his latest fight. Usman is to face Leon Edwards next but he also wants to fight Canelo Alvarez.

The Mexican is one of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport and holds several titles in the Super Middleweight class.

Usman has spoken about beating Alvarez in the past and it seems he has some backing from other UFC stars.

Khamzat Chimaev, who possibly is the biggest rising star in the company, posted a clip of Usman training and claimed that the UFC Champion could knock out Alvarez.

Will Kamaru Usman fight Canelo Alvarez?

This is the big question on everyone’s lips. Conor McGregor got the world talking when he faced Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.

However, the Irishman failed to win the fight but did make a decent sum from the bout. Usman vs Alvarez would be quite a bout and The Nigerian Nightmare has called out the boxing great for a fight on Mexican Independence Day.

It will be interesting to see if the UFC sanctions such a fight. Usman is the best in the UFC, pound-for-pound, and has vanquished all challengers in front of him.

Edwards is getting a rematch after going on a 10-fight undefeated run. However, Rocky lost to Usman via unanimous decision back in 2015.

Usman has improved his boxing inside the Octagon in recent outings. However, facing Alvarez in a boxing ring is a completely different ask when compared to taking on someone inside the Octagon.
