Khabib Nurmagomedov considers his unanimous decision victory over Rafael dos Anjos, back in 2014 as the most underrated victory in UFC history.

29 fighters have fought Khabib, but none of them could even come remotely close to beating ‘The Eagle of Dagestan. One among those unfortunate opponents was Rafael dos Anjos, in his prime.

The pair met at UFC on Fox: Werdum vs Browne on the 19th of April, 2014. RDA was coming off an impressive five-match win streak. And, his last win was against a ‘then marauding’ Donald Cerrone.

This was supposed to be Khabib’s first real test. He was 21-0 going into the fight and had just had one of the most dreadful and painful training camps of all time (according to his late father).

However, Khabib eased past the Brazilian, thoroughly outclassing him to emerge victorious via. unanimous decision.

More recently, popular MMA page Combatalk had shared a post on Instagram, saying that Khabib’s win over Dos Anjos is the most underrated win in UFC history. Posting it to his Instagram Stories, Khabib seemed to agree with the fact, as he gave a thumbs up.

Khabib’s name slowly began gaining popularity after his win over Dos Anjos. He then began facing tougher opponents, and found himself against the elites in no time. However, the result was the same, as he had no trouble beating Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.

And, after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, last October, the Dagestan man decided to hang up his gloves.

As for RDA, the 36-year old Brazilian is still trying to stay relevant in the ‘lightweight elite’ scenario. In fact, he is still ranked number 7 in the lightweight division, meaning he is just a few wins away from breaking into the top rankings.
