Jorge Masvidal revealed he had a lot of things running in his mind, like retirement, challenge again for the belt, after his brutal KO loss at UFC 261.

This year has seen some fighters who have never been finished in their UFC careers, being finished for the first time. First, it was Conor McGregor at UFC 257 against Dustin Poirier. The latest addition to this list is Jorge Masvidal.

Masvidal was brutally knocked out by a powerful straight right from Usman in the second round of their fight at UFC 261, thereby putting a momentary end to Gamebred’s welterweight title quest.

Masvidal spoke to Ariel Helwani of ESPN MMA, after his UFC 261 fiasco, wherein he revealed that he was shattered for a moment after being knocked out. The 36-year old further went on to say that he had a lot of thoughts (predominantly negative) going on in his mind in the immediate aftermath of his knockout.

Masvidal also spoke about how his loved ones gave him encouragement and told him that he ‘still had a lot to offer’, which was when he was able to flush out those thoughts from his mind.

When asked by Helwani if an option to retire was one among those thoughts which flashed through his mind, Masvidal replied:

“Several things about retirement and ‘could I get the belt, because if I’m like going for the belt, what am I doing here?’. All those questions coming to head just for like, like I said just skip the beat and kept going according to plan.”

Jorge Masvidal interested in fighting Nick Diaz

Nick Diaz was one among the 15000 attendees at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville. His recent jacked physique and training videos have got everyone believing that the ‘West Coast Gangster’ might return to the UFC soon.

UFC President Dana White even revealed at the post-fight press conference that Diaz might be making a return in 2021.

And in the recent interview with Ariel Helwani, after his loss to Usman, Masvidal has expressed his interest in entertaining the older Diaz brother, after having beaten Nate Diaz at UFC 244.

Gamebred revealed that he would very well take up the fight if Nick Diaz was willing.

This would be a good chance for Nick Diaz to settle the score in the Masvidal-Diaz brothers rivalry.
