Dustin Poirier opened up on dropping out of high school while talking about Daniel Cormier’s Hall of Fame induction.

Poirier might be the number one ranked lightweight in the world. He might be the first man to knock Conor McGregor out in his professional MMA career. The former interim lightweight champion has achieved innumerous feats in his UFC career.

However, the Louisiana man has not completed high school. Yes! You read that right. But, at the end of the day, who cares? ‘Skills pay the Bills’! Poirier has surely achieved more than the majority of academic stalwarts all around the world.

At least he is definitely more popular than most of them.

Elsewhere, Daniel Cormier the former UFC heavyweight champion and UFC commentator, who happens to be from the same state as Poirier, Louisiana, was inducted into the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Hall of fame.

Speaking about this in an interview with Ariel Helwani of ESPN MMA, Poirier told an amused Helwani that he would have probably been inducted into the same Hall of Fame, had he gone to high school.

A surprised Helwani asked when Poirier dropped out. Poirier replied that he had not gone past 9th grade.

He revealed in the interview with Ariel Helwani that the trilogy bout against McGregor meant a lot to him personally and also that it would mean a lot to the sport of mixed martial arts.

Poirier then went on to say that, he was confident about beating the Irishman and he would then face the winner of the Chandler-Oliveira fight.

The Diamond then claimed that he was never afraid to take different routes. They say the more the Diamond is cut, the brighter it sparkles, and boy does Poirier live up to that!
