Charles Oliveira was seen jumping over the Octagon after his victory at UFC 262

Oliveira put on a second round-clinic against Michael Chandler to emerge victorious, and earn the coveted lightweight belt. He thereby became the eleventh lightweight champion in the history of the promotion.

The Brazilian’s joy knew no bounds after his victory against ‘Iron Mike’, he leapt over the cage and went straight to the commentary booth, face to face with Joe Rogan.

He then went to UFC President Dana White who was seated close by and embraced him, before going to his corner.

There was something he yelled at Rogan, and Daniel Cormier who was seated next to Rogan, revealed in the latest episode of DC & Helwani Show, what ‘Do Bronx’ had shouted.

Cormier divulged that Oliveira had shouted, “Surprise! Surprise!”, alluding to Chandler’s post-fight interview at UFC 257, where he had announced his arrival with the words ‘Surprise, surprise’.

Here is what Cormier had to say:

“He was yelling ‘surprise, surprise’. Surprise, surprise, do you remember Michael Chandler said that when he won? ‘There is a new contender in the lightweight division’.”

Daniel Cormier didn’t like the fact that Michael Chandler lost

Cormier revealed that he was quite disappointed that his fellow countryman Michael Chandler lost. However, he then revealed that he was happy for Oliveira because of all that he has been through during his childhood days.

Cormier told Helwani:

“I didn’t like that Michael Chandler lost. I didn’t really care that Charles Oliveira won. When you watch someone break through. When you know what the kid has been through…Charles Oliveira man, he is a sweetheart of a man.”

Oliveira will now face the winner of the fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, which is on the 10th of July.
