Former heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier has suggested a potential heavyweight clash for the interim title that would make sense

During a recent episode of the DC & RC show, the former heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier proposed a heavyweight clash between Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones for the interim title.

The heavyweight division has turned out to be one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC in recent times. With sufficient matchmaking options, this particular fight makes total sense stylistically and logically.

Daniel Cormier has faced both the fighters on several occasions and it’s pretty clear he understands that the fight makes sense given the current situation of the heavyweight division.

Daniel Cormier believes Jon Jones will compete at heavyweight but would struggle to get his hands on the title

With his debut expected to come in 2022, Jones will probably fight for the title, or one win before he gets a title shot.

However, in a recent episode of DC&RC, Daniel Cormier gave his thoughts about Jones’ chances in the heavyweight division.

Daniel Cormier said: “I believe that Jon Jones will fight at heavyweight and he’ll fight for the belt, but he’ll lose to Ciryl Gane or Francis Ngannou. I just think that the time away, with the weight difference, and those guys being who they are, that’s the problem. It’s not that Jones has gotten worse; it’s just that these guys are a different level of heavyweight.”
