Conor McGregor might not have fought this weekend but he posted an emotional message after UFC 268 and Bellator 270

This was a fantastic weekend for fight fans with Bellator and the UFC putting on two stacked cards.

Bellator 270 was extra special for Conor McGregor given that his training partner, Peter Quelly was to fight for the vacant Bellator Lightweight world title.

UFC 268, on the other hand, had two mega title clashes. Colby Covington got a rematch against possibly the greatest UFC Welterweight ever, the current champion, Kamaru Usman.

Rose Namajunas also defended her Strawweight title against former champion Zhang Weili. Not only that, the UFC’s main card started with an incredible fight, Justin Gaethje vs Michael Chandler.

It also featured an Irishman fighting with Ian Garry making his UFC debut.

McGregor, who has been recovering from a broken ankle suffered at the hands of Dustin Poirier, had his eye on both cards.

The Irishman wanted a rematch for Quelly after his partner lost to Patricky Pitbull in the main event of Bellator 270.

However, the Irishman posted a wonderful message for all fight fans after UFC 268 ended.

“An emotional weekend of fighting this weekend. If you do this sport, win, lose or draw you’re the fucking man/woman and don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise! Congrats to all and thank you for the sheer entertainment!

“What a sport! What a game!

“What a life! Thank you all”

While there wasn’t a big main card fight that featured an Irishman at UFC 268, McGregor was still backing Ian Garry as his countryman made his UFC debut.

Garry scored and incredible knockout to win against Jordan Williams in the Early prelim card, and McGregor was quick to celebrate the win on social media too.

It will be interesting to see when McGregor can return to action after his broken ankle. However, it is great to see the Irishman is still passionate about the fight game, even if he has been out of sorts for a while.
