Conor McGregor was recently named the highest paid athlete for the year 2021 according to Forbes

Conor McGregor might have struggled in the year 2021. Things inside the Octagon never went the way he would have wanted them to go.

With back-to-back losses for the first time in his career, the Irishman also crashed out of the top 5 of the lightweight rankings.

But, off the court ‘The Notorious’ has been on fire. He came number 1 in the Forbes List of Highest-paid athletes for the year 2021. Thanks to his Proper No.12 Whiskey Brand.

McGregor made a grand total of $180 million with $158 million coming off-court and $22 million from UFC. He beat the likes of stars like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and LeBron James.

In the top 50, only two female athletes were featured. They were Tennis stars – Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams (Tennis) of the United States.

While Osaka came in at number 12, Williams was placed 28th.

Osaka made a whopping $60m, earning $55 million through off-field endorsements and making $5 million on-court.

Williams, meanwhile made $41.5 million, with $40 million coming through endorsements.

On learning that Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams were the only females athletes in the top 50 of the highest-paid athletes according to Forbes, Conor McGregor (highest-paid athlete 2021) took to Twitter to congratulate them.

He quote tweeted a post from Forbes India that mentioned the same.

McGregor wrote:

“Awesome job ladies! @serenawilliams@naomiosaka.”

McGregor is currently serving a six-month medical suspension following his ankle injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He will be back in the 2nd week of January 2022.
