Khabib Nurmagomedov is considered by the majority of the MMA world to be the lightweight GOAT

The lightweight division is bustling and teeming in the UFC right now. The fighters in the top 10 are more closely packed than atoms in a face-centered cubic structure.

A testimony to this was Beneil Dariush’s recent win against Tony Ferguson at UFC 262. Just one win from the Iranian, saw him jump 6 places to number 3 in the lightweight rankings.

The 155lbs division is well-known for being the hardest division in the UFC since its inception. Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen pointed out this in the recent episode of Ariel & The Bad Guy.

Describing the current lightweight scenario, Sonnen then went to say why people consider Khabib Nurmagomedov to be the GOAT.

Sonnen said:

“One of the reasons why Khabib is so revered and then his performances were so jaw-dropping; wasn’t the domination, it wasn’t the 10-8 rounds, it wasn’t the fact that he only lost one round. It is that he did it in the 155lbs.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov is training his cousin Usman Nurmagomedov for his next fight

Khabib has been training his cousin Usman for his next fight in Bellator on the 30th of July. The Eagle took to Instagram to post a picture of the same.

The pair have been training in the US, after Usman made an impressive start to his Bellator career, defeating Mike Hamel at Bellator 255 on the 2nd of April. He was coached by Khabib himself who was by his corner during the fight.

Usman currently has a professional record of 12 wins and 0 losses, finishing 10 out of the 12 fights. He looks like he is following in the footsteps of his cousin, who finished his career with 29 wins and 0 losses.

Only time will tell, as the challenges become more harder once he starts moving up.
