“A rich guy can’t buy integrity” – Chael Sonnen says Conor McGregor was embarrassed by Dustin Poirier’s donation accusations

Former UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen believes Conor McGregor is upset over the Dustin Poirier’s recent donation accusations.

McGregor and Poirier fought at UFC 257, with an added clause of the Irishman donating 500 thousand USD to Dustin Poirier’s Good Fight Foundation. McGregor eventually lost the fight via knockout and in the immediate aftermath talks of a trilogy bout began.

Just a few days ago, ‘The Diamond’ accused the ‘Notorious’ of not paying stipulated amount on Twitter. A fuming McGregor was caught off guard, and immediately refused fighting Poirier in a trilogy bout.

However, now the fight has been made official and it will go on in July in front of a full house in Vegas.

Former UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen had quite a lot to say about this in the recent episode of Ariel & The Bad Guy.

Sonnen said Poirier’s public accusation of McGregor legitimately upset the Irishman. Uncle Chael also claimed that ‘The Notorious’ was attempting to buy a little bit of integrity via. the generous donation.

Here is what Sonnen had to say:

“This embarrassed Conor McGregor. This didn’t only upset him, this embarrassed him. And, I’m not sure if we’ve ever seen him embarrassed. One thing that a rich guy can’t buy is integrity and Conor was attempting to buy a little bit of that with this purchase.”

Sonnen also revealed that he feared Conor was going to pull out of the fight. Speaking of which he said:

“Conor said ‘I’m writing a cheque’ and he didn’t do it. Conor is legitimately upset here and I also thought he was going to pull out of the fight.”

Dustin Poirier apologizes to Conor McGregor

Poirier recently came up with a public apology for making private issues between him and McGregor public.

He went on to say that he has always been passionate about things revolving around his charity, and hence went a bit overboard.

However, it looks like ‘The Diamond’ has earned the wrath of the ‘Notorious’ one. The Irishman looks like he is back to his original ‘trash-talking’ self, and will do whatever possible to go 2-1 up in the trilogy.
